Governance

The African Institute of International Law is an independent and autonomous institute governed by a Curatorium and the Administrative Board provided for in the Statute of the Institute.

The Curatorium comprises renowned international lawyers, diplomats and judges from Africa. This body is responsible for the development of the academic, training and research programmes of the Institute, its overall strategic direction, and administrative supervision until all the organs of the Institute are established in conformity with the Statute.

The Curatorium is chaired by Judge Abdulqawi Yusuf, Vice-President of the International Court of Justice.

Professor Chris Maina Peter (Tanzania)
Member, Professor of Law and former Dean Faculty of Law at the University of Dar Es Salaam, Member of the United Nations International Law Commission;
