The African Law Seminar is an online training program initiated by Virginia Morris to provide high quality International Law and African Union Law education by leading scholars, jurists and practitioners needed for the development of Africa and the achievement of the goals of the African Union. The African Law Seminar is open to all African lawyers and law students free of charge.
The African Law Seminar is conducted by the African Institute of International Law, in cooperation with the African Union Office of the Legal Counsel and the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, Codification Division, under the United Nations Programme of Assistance in the Teaching, Study, Dissemination and Wider Appreciation of International Law.
The African Union has endorsed the African Law Seminar as a contribution to the AU theme of the year for 2024 “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa.” The African Union has recognized that the African Law Seminar is aligned with its strategic objectives and will be instrumental in achieving its project goals.
The continuation of the Seminar is subject to funding.

There were also participants with Government Ministries in Ghana (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Liberia (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Law Reform Commission, Office of War and Economic Crimes Court).
A total of 1,749 participants attended the first seminar.
