The African Institute of International Law is pleased to announce the publication of the African Law Series by Virginia Morris which provides the most comprehensive collection of legal instruments of the Organization of African Unity and the African Union. This publication is consistent with and implements the overall objective of the African Institute by promoting “the consolidation of the rule of law and rules-based pan-African integration, founded on a common understanding and application of international law, the public law of Africa and African Union law by African States”. It is available on the AIIL website free of charge for academic, non-commercial use.
The African Law Series was prepared by Virginia Morris in cooperation with the African Union Office of the Legal Counsel. The African Union has endorsed the African Law Series as a contribution to the AU theme of the year for 2024 “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa.” The African Union has recognized that this publication is aligned with its strategic objectives and will be instrumental in achieving its project goals.
The preparation of updated versions of the African Law Series and the French version of the African Law Handbook is subject to funding.
